On the point where Lake Manapouri meets the lower Waiau River. Delightfully quiet, picturesque and friendly camping ground with a great vibe and interesting guests to meet. Wake to the chorus of birdsong and relax listening the local owl, the Morepork, at night. A delightful 8 minute walk through the beech tree forest to the Doubtful Sound cruise's departure point. Great fishing spots.

Possum Lodge Motels and Camping Ground is set on the side of Lake Manapouri and beside the lower Waiau river. Great for trout fishing and many water sports. Abundant bird life with enjoyable walks through the surrounding beech tree forests. Possum Lodge is a small family owned camping ground. We have a mix of motels, cabins, backpacker cabins, powered and non-powered sites. We have a retro, relaxing vibe and enjoy the company of guests from all over the world. We are an 8 minute walk from the Doubtful Sound cruise's departure point. Milford Sound is a 2 hour drive and Te Anau is a 15 minute drive. We are near to the Kepler Track and other great NZ walking tracks.
Manapouri is also home to some great restaurants/ bars, a petrol station and the some of the best views in fiordland.
Possum Lodge Motels and Camping Ground
Possum Lodge was a lovely place to stay - set against bush and only a couple of minutes to the lake with the native birds sing all of the time. Our unit was clean, had a real cool 70's feel about it. Good base for trips to Milford and Te Anau. Would definitely stay again and I have told all...

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst we took trips to Doubtful Sound. Has a lot of character and accommodates tents, motorhomes, those who stay in cabins. On the lakefront with nice walks along the waterside. Easy walk to the departure point for Sound tours. Cost $35 a night for motorhome with power and 2 people.

Lovely lakeside camping spot within 10 minutes walking distance to real journeys ferry for trips on the lake then onto doubtful sound. Clean facilities but small would suggest early arrival around 2-4pm as gets very busy and we saw some people turned away at around 5.30 so be aware. 1 minute and you can sit by the lake

We stayed in the motel, place was clean with full kitchen and bath, not bad for 2night stop over for our doubtful sound tour, only cons hot plate for cooking didn't work that well, wifi limited signal and hours and bath room door was too low hit my head a couple of times. Better than what I expected being out...
